Updating your plugins tends to elicit one reaction from most bloggers and business owners. And that’s panic. If you’ve been using WordPress for a while, you know what I mean.

ENTER MY HACK FOR SAVING TIME UPDATING YOUR PLUGINS

Updating your plugins can be SO ANNOYING. Like why does there need to be a little red icon that tells you how many plugins need to be updated right now? Why can’t they just handle themselves and get out of my hair? Can I get an Amen?

So, instead of doing what needs to be done (ie. updating your plugins, cough cough), you tend to spend most of your time jumping to conclusions.

WHAT ALMOST NEVER HAPPENS WHEN YOU UPDATE YOUR PLUGINS:

Is my site gonna break if I update these?

Is my business gonna fail if a plugin breaks?

Is this gonna trigger the zombie apocalypse?

Take a deep breath. No, updating your plugins is not going to trigger any world war z. In fact, it’s going to do the opposite.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENS WHEN YOU KEEP YOUR PLUGINS UPDATED:

  • Your website runs quicker, faster, stronger, better, work it harder makes it better.
  • Your website receives the proper software fixes so that nothing breaks in the future.
  • Your website continues to bring in LEADS, TRAFFIC & MONEY!

UPDATING YOUR PLUGINS, THE EASY WAY

1. GO TO PLUGINS & SELECT ‘UPDATE AVAILABLE’

This will filter all of your plugins to show you just the ones that need to be updated.

2. SELECT ALL PLUGINS THAT NEED TO BE UPDATED.

Check the empty box at the top of the list to select all plugins. This will keep you from having to manually select all plugins in the list.

3. SELECT UPDATE FROM BULK ACTIONS.

This drop-down menu doesn’t have any extra information other than the word “bulk actions”, but bear with me. Select Update from the menu.

4. HIT APPLY & WATCH THE MAGIC UNFOLD.

Apply the changes and watch the magic unfold. Your plugins will be sent to a queue to automatically update one-by-one while you do something more efficient with your time (like catch up on the new season of The Bachelor). Your website won’t be down for my time, depending of course of how many plugins you have to update 😉
